Cathy-Anne McClintock was born and raised in Vancouver British Columbia to a mother from Texas and Canadian father. She grew up exposed to a huge variety of musical influences that are reflected in her ability to write and sing everything from an aching traditional bluegrass song or a classic country love song to various styles of alternative/pop music.
After high school Cathy-Anne was asked to join her sister Trisha in an alternative bluegrass group called Tumbleweed. They spent almost 10 years performing internationally with the critically acclaimed, multi award winning group. Her securely established vocal style has been featured on numerous television and radio programs, music videos, as well as in the Universal Pictures soundtrack for Ed Zwick’s (Legends of The Fall, Glory, Providence, Once and Again) “Leaving Normal” where she sang on camera the old Patty Paige tune “Changing Partners”. Cathy-Anne has performed at some of the largest music festivals in Canada and Europe.
She also had the privilege of being a part of the act chosen from a nation wide search to sing at a private birthday party for the Australian media mogul Rupert Murdock (Fox TV, NFL, etc). As part of Tumbleweed, Cathy-Anne shared an indie record deal with her sister for their CD “Weedgarden Europe” and 2 other CD’s prior to that distributed throughout Canada. Individually and collectively they have been featured in Billboard, The Record, and Acoustic Guitar as well as Canadian papers and European magazines. A new compilation of 21 songs will be released in March of 2006 with some of the favorite songs from the Tumbleweed collection.
Most recently Cathy-Anne has had her songs recorded by several Indie artists while one she sang was picked for a film called “A Little Inside” which was chosen to open the New York Independent Film Festival, later winning “best drama” at the same festival. A Disney release HBO film “Knock First” used one of her tunes called “I Wanna Live Like That”. “Who Knew” was the first single in Canada, and having finished composing material for her own solo CD, Cathy-Anne started recording in January of this year with some of the top acoustic players and engineers in the world. She also continues co-operating Music Bookies Entertainment and happily raising her 6 year old daughter, Tessa and 2 year old son Jesse.
