One banjo, one fat acoustic bass, and three voices in close, Appalachia-laced harmony: that's the essential Tumbleweed.
Sisters Cathy-Anne McClintock on vocals and Trisha Gagnon on bass and vocals join Chris Stevens on vocals, banjo and guitar, picking and rolling his infectious rhythms over everything from a gospel classic to an aching, original tune; from something Kentucky and traditional to a sweetly re-arranged Beatles chestnut. Joining them are Steve Dawson on dobro and slide guitar, and Jesse Zubot on fiddle and mandolin.
Tumbleweed delivers a beguiling sample of newgrass, roots, pop and gospel sounds. Graceful, elegant harmonies and pristine musicianship propel their truly original compositions as well as some tasteful covers. Their CD ‘Weedgarden' won Album of the Year at the 1998 B.C . Country Music Awards Show and is acclaimed industry-wide.They also won the B.C . Country Music Association's award for Best Bluegrass Group for ten years in a row.
